Calgary Stampede

For ten days each July, the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede – “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” – attracts well over a million people to its world-famous rodeo events, chuckwagon races and the dizzying energy of the Stampede Midway.

The Calgary Stampede kicks off again on July 7, 2006, and the western-flavoured fun continues until July 16. On July 15, country superstar Alan Jackson will put on a concert at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

One of Calgary’s favourite Stampede traditions is the pancake breakfast – a streetside offering of flapjacks, bacon, coffee and country music. Not a morning goes by without a number of free breakfasts hosted by communities, corporations, clubs and shopping centres around town.
