Junior Programs

Our junior program at Stewart creek allows golfers aged 8-18 to learn, practice and play the necessary skills to foster their passion for the game of golf. We have created many different programs to accommodate all needs. Options include multi day camps, multi week programs or season long coaching for those entering competitive golf.

Biography: After completing his degree at the University of Calgary, Chris continued his academic and athletic journey by joining the Mount Royal University golf team, where he earned a Business Management degree.

Following his formal education, Chris began his career at Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, where he spent five years developing his skills under the mentorship of Canadian Hall of Famer Ron Laugher.

In the fall of 2004, Chris seized an opportunity to join Stewart Creek Golf & Country Club, allowing him to return to Canmore. After three years as Associate Professional, he was promoted to Head Golf Professional in 2008.

With a background in Kinesiology, Chris believes that efficient movement patterns are the foundation of golfing success. He takes a holistic approach to instruction, helping golfers “swing their swing” while building upon strong setup fundamentals.

Chris proudly calls Canmore home, where he lives with his family—his partner Ella and their children, Cody and Nelly. Outside of golf, he enjoys pursuing his passions for skiing, fishing, and mountain biking.

Biography: After moving west in 2003 to pursue a career teaching snowboarding in the mountains, Tony eventually found a summer role at Stewart Creek in 2008 that complemented the seasonality of the winter months. Having golfed casually from a young age, he always enjoyed his time on the course and quickly developed an appreciation for the quality of Stewart Creek.

After a couple of seasons, Tony was encouraged to take his game to the next level, completing his PAT in 2016. Teaching golf proved to be a natural fit, drawing on the experience he had gained as a snowboard instructor.

Tony enjoys helping students of all abilities become more comfortable with the game of golf. He takes a simple, approachable teaching style, focusing on making the necessary adjustments to help each player improve.

Tony is fortunate to call Canmore home, and when he’s not at Stewart Creek, he can be found enjoying the many outdoor activities the Rocky Mountains have to offer with his wife, Meghann, and their two children, McKinley and Riley.

Biography: Ethan Banks has been a PGA of Canada professional since October 2025. His passion for golf began at age three, hitting balls across the street in Calgary’s Hamptons community and using tree wells as makeshift holes. In 2005, the General Manager of The Hamptons Golf Club noticed him practising and offered him a complimentary junior membership for the following season. Ethan joined in 2006 and has remained a member ever since.

After high school, Ethan attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he continued developing his game and competed as an amateur on mini-tour circuits alongside players such as Min Woo Lee and Michael Thorbjornsen. He also gained valuable experience around Nelly and Jessica Korda.

After receiving 13 NCAA golf offers, Ethan returned to Calgary to study astrophysics at the University of Calgary. He competed for the Dinos Golf Team for six seasons and served as captain for four. In 2021, he won the Canada West Championship at Squamish Valley Golf Club in a playoff, followed by another victory the next week at the Okanagan Golf Club’s Bear Course. His performances earned him a nomination for Dinos Athlete of the Year.

Following university, Ethan received an exemption for PGA of Canada professional status in October 2025. His primary interests within the golf industry are instruction and player development, including swing mechanics, mental performance, course and situational management, short-game technique, putting, and overall golf club culture.
